About Sierrans for Alabama:

Sierrans for Alabama is a grassroots network of Sierra Club members and supporters dedicated to strengthening the Alabama Chapter. We're working to restore transparency, democratic governance, and grassroots advocacy after the Sierra Club's withdrawal from Alabama left communities without support for environmental justice and conservation efforts. While we are proud Sierra Club members, this independent initiative focuses on rebuilding an inclusive, effective chapter that can address Alabama's urgent environmental challenges.

We're honored to welcome representatives from the Cahaba Alliance for Conservation and Sustainability, a coalition formed when established environmental groups failed to support community-led conservation efforts. The Alliance is dedicated to safeguarding the Cahaba River watershed region through environmental protection, sustainable development, and community engagement, working to create balance between conservation and human activities for thriving ecosystems and communities.

What to Expect:

Join us for the third meeting of Sierrans for Alabama, where we’ll continue building a grassroots movement to restore transparency, advocacy, and community-driven environmental action in Alabama. We’ll also discuss the ongoing campaign and explore the question: “What could be possible if the Alabama Chapter of the Sierra Club changed?”
